Eli Siegel discusses "The Pelican"

In my next post, I'll be featuring a report by Aesthetic Realism Associate Alan Shapiro of Eli Siegel's lecture "Sentences in a Passage of American Literature," which features a rich discussion of Edith Wharton's short story "The Pelican." This story has, as do her other works, her very keen and critical observations of people and their motives with each other--in this case, a mother and son. For now, I'll recommend other papers by Alan Shapiro--a jazz pianist and music teacher who, I'm glad to say, is my husband. Go to his website at www.alanshapiromusic.net.
